We are a leading force in the ongoing development of internet governance and policy and work closely with the internet community and other stakeholders, including the UK Government and other parliamentarians.
We derive our authority from the UK internet community, which includes internet users and Nominet members and are acknowledged by the UK Government as the manager of the .uk top level domain as well other top level domains.
As the 4th largest internet registry services provider in the world, our work has a global dimension. We actively work and partner with global organisations including the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) and the Council of European National Top-Level Domain Registries (CENTR).
We are currently applying to become an ICANN accredited registrar which will enable us to sell the new generic Top Level Domains .cymru and .wales. We are also the UK and Ireland office of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
