in order to allow Hostcount++ to collect data, we are asking all nameserver administrators to allow AXFR transfers from a trusted Nominet IP address.

Nameserver configurations vary with the different software used. The most commonly used nameserver software is ISC’s BIND. To allow AXFR transfers from a BIND nameserver the IP address of the trusted client is included in the zone statement on the zone’s master server:

    type master;
    file "hostcount-example.co.uk";
    allow transfer { slave_servers; 213.248.199.25; }

where slave_servers are the other authoritative nameservers for the zone.
