You can use the
unlock operation to undo a
domain lock. If you have changed your decision to lock a domain name, you can use this operation to reverse the lock.
If you use our
object based data structure, you can choose to
unlock an account directly.
When you use the
unlock operation, be aware of the following:

Use of this operation is governed by our
anti-abuse guidelines. Make sure you are familiar with these guidelines before unlocking a domain name.
How to unlock a domain name:
- Create a new email message to applications@nic.uk
- Use the subject TAG Unlock (replace TAG with your tag name in capital letters).
- Use the following template in your email message:
operation: unlock
key:
lock-type: investigation
Notes:
- It is mandatory to include values for all the fields in this template. For more information on template fields, see our field definitions.
- To unlock more than one domain name, you can repeat the 'key:' separated by a blank line up to 100 times.
- PGP sign and send the email.
You will receive
confirmation from the Automaton if the operation is successful. In addition, a notification email will be sent to the registrant of the domain name.
