You can use the
lock operation to prevent modifications to the whois optout field.
Use of the opt-out lock operation has the following effect on an account:
- If the opt-out field is 'Y' then change it to 'N'
- Placing a lock on the opt-out field to prevent further modifications.
How to lock an account:
- Create a new email message to applications@nic.uk
- Use the subject TAG Account Lock (replace TAG with your tag name in capital letters).
- Use the following template in your email message:
operation: lock
key:
account-id:
lock-type: opt-out
Notes:
- Either the account-id: or key: fields must be provided to identify the account to lock. Both the operation: and lock-type: fields must be provided. For more information on template fields, see our field definitions.
- To lock more than one domain name, you can repeat the 'key:' field separated by a blank line up to 100 times.
- PGP sign and send the email.
You will receive
confirmation from the Automaton if the operation is successful. In addition, a notification email will be sent to the registrant of the domain name.
You will receive an
error from the Automation if the operation is unsuccessful. For help identifying and resolving an unsuccessful operation, see our
error messages page.
