Release date: Thursday 13 October 2011, 06:00 (BST)

As a result of customer feedback, this work has been carried over from the September release to allow registrars sufficient time to prepare for the changes. The EPP testbed will be available for testing system integration.

Data Restructure

We are making some changes to our data structure to align more closely to the EPP standard data structure. We are splitting registrant data out from other account data which will change the data structure for registrants to match that of the domain schema for the EPP RFCs.

The October release of EPP will include two new notification schemas which will be included in the EPP greeting:
  • std-notifications-1.2.xsd – for use with our implementation of Standard EPP
  • nom-notifications-2.1.xsd – for use with Nominet EPP
Both of these schemas have been updated to include the new Contact Deleted notification.

In addition, we are reducing the number of registrant contact email addresses from three to one on each registrant contact. Registrar contacts remain unchanged. There will be some changes to the EPP and Automaton commands.

Online Services

We are launching a simpler log-in process to Online Services. All customers will log in through a single log-in page using their email address and password. We are removing the requirement to select a role at the time of logging in.

Phasing out security questions for registrants
We are withdrawing account security questions for registrants in favour of an optional 2-factor pass phrase. The pass phrase will work in conjunction with customer user names and passwords.

Forthcoming planned maintenance dates are available.

If you have any questions about this release please contact our Customer Service Technical 2nd line support team on or by phone on 01865 332233.
