The renewals procedure requires registrars to decide before expiry which domain names they want to renew on behalf of their customers. Renewing a domain name extends the expiry date by two years.
Registrars can renew a domain name on their tag on behalf of the registrant up to six months before its expiry date by submitting a renewal request through our registrar systems. When we receive a renewal request the expiry date will be wound forward two years.
If you would like further information on the renewals system, full details of the renewals procedure is available, as well as our email renewal reminder process.
There is also a summary of our most recent changes to the renewals process, scheduled to be completed in March 2009 with the introduction of registrar customised email reminders.
If you have any questions on any aspect of the renewals system, please contact our member and registrar services support team on +44 (0) 1865 332233, or send an email to support@nominet.org.uk with the subject line 'renewals'.
