The registrar dashboard is an area in online services that gives you a quick snapshot of statistics relating to your .uk business.

The dashboard can be found in the registrar section of your online service account. Currently marked as a beta product, the dashboard has been launched now so that we can get your and requirements to help us shape the development of this tool.

The dashboard contains two main pages dedicated to:
  • New business
  • Renewals
Your statistics are placed in a segment depending on the number of domain names on your account or tag. Your performance within your category is then benchmarked to show how your figures compare to similar sized registrars

Segments

We have split registrars into 4 segments based on number of domain names on the account or the tag. These segments are:
  • Segment 1: Over 10,000 domain names
  • Segment 2: 3,000 – 9,999 domain names
  • Segment 3: 1,000 – 2,999 domain names
  • Segment 4: under 1000 domain names
These segments have been decided based on the information that we hold on number of registrars and domain names on tag. We would like to provide you with options on segmentation by:
  • Industry sectors (eg hosting companies, ISPs, Web developers etc.)
  • Geographic regions
This type of segmentation would depend on us collecting industry data and could work on a self-select basis. We would be keen to hear your requirements and thoughts about segmentation.

Benchmarking

Within your segment we have plotted four lines to show how you compare with the averages within your segment. We have plotted the average figure for:
  • First quartile: The average for top 25% of registrars within your segment
  • Second quartile: The average for 75% to 50% of registrars within your segment
  • Third quartile: The average for 50% to 25% of registrars within your segment
  • Fourth quartile: The average for the bottom 25% of registrars within your segment
Again we would appreciate any on this benchmarking and how useful it is to you.

New business

This dashboard view shows you a chart of the volume of new registrations made for the past 12 completed months. To the right of the chart you can see your account details, the market segment you are in, and the total number of domains on your account or tag at midnight the previous day.

Below the chart is a data table showing new registrations along with tag changes on and off your account. The totals for each month are shown along with a link to get a daily breakdown of the data. All of the data can also be exported as csv files to allow you to use within your own management information reporting system.

Renewals

The link in the right hand column allows you to view your renewals dashboard. There is a chart showing your renewals performance and benchmark figures for the previous 12 months.

The most recent 4 months are shown in grey as the data is not yet mature for these months and is still subject to change. This is because it is still possible to renew a domain name up to 90 days after expiry.

We have also calculated two renewals data tables to provide further insight into your renewals statistics. The renewals summary table shows the number of renewals due and how many of them have already been renewed and paid for within certain time frames. You may wish to see this data based on renewals received and we are working on ways to improve this section.

The next renewals table shows historic renewals performance. You can see when your renewals are made in relation to expiry dates. In this table the renewal data is based on when the renewal request was received. You can therefore easily see how many of your renewals come in prior to the expiry date and how many after. You can also see your cancellation rate. As with the chart, please remember that renewals data is subject to change for the most recent four months.

At the top of this table are two links. These switch the table and chart between percentage figures and volumes.

Feedback

We are keen to get any feedback you have about this system, how you use it and  how you would like to see it developed in the future. Please email your comments to
