Through a registrar
You are encouraged to register a domain name through a registrar (ISP or registration agent) who will act as your agent and submit a domain name application to Nominet - or another international registry - on your behalf.
The majority of registrars are members of Nominet UK. Although Nominet cannot recommend one specific registrar over another, we provide advice on choosing a registrar, as will reference to magazines about the Internet.
Direct with Nominet
It is possible to register a domain name direct with Nominet, but this requires specialist technical knowledge and equipment. In order to be eligible to register direct you must provide the Internet Protocol addresses of two name servers that are permanently connected to the Internet.
