How do I change my account name?
You can make corrections to your account when you are logged into your account. Select the 'Account' tab and then edit the 'Organisation Details' section. If you need to show a different legal entity as the account holder, you will need to complete a
transfer of registrant.
Can I download a registration certificate?
You can download a registration certificate when you are logged into your account. Select the 'Your Domains' tab which will list all the domains you have registered. You can then select which certificates you wish to download or have emailed to you.
Can I cancel a domain name via Online Service?
If you want to cancel any of your domain names you can do so when you are logged into your account. Select the 'Your Domains' tab, which will list all the domains you have registered. You can then select which domain names you want to cancel.
I have registered a domain name with my registrar, when will I receive a welcome email?
You will receive a welcome email from us 48 hours after the registration of your first .uk domain name. If you already have an account with us your new domain names will be added to your existing account.
I have not received a 'welcome' email to access my account, how do I log in?
You can log in using the security code given in your confirmation of registration letter. If you do not have this let us know and we will send you a 'welcome' email.
Why have I received a welcome email?
You are listed as a contact for a domain name account that has been registered, renewed or activated with us.
My domain names are held with different registrars/tags, can I merge these?
No, you can only merge accounts when the domain names are with the same registrar.
My account names are similar but they will not merge - why is this?
A computer calculation is used to determine how similar account names are. If your accounts have different account names you will need to update these details so that the account names are the same before you attempt to merge them. You can do this by logging into online services, selecting the 'Account' tab and changing the account name. When your account names are the same you can try merging them again.
I am using the merge facility, but one of my accounts is not listed - why not?
This could be for one of two reasons:
- You are not listed as a contact for this account
- You are a contact on the account but the email address or password maybe different
If you are not listed as a contact you will need to ask your registrar or another contact on your account and ask them to add you. If you are a contact but your email address or password is different, you will need to log into the account and amend these details and then try to merge the accounts again.
What are the benefits of merging my accounts?
It is easier and quicker to manage your account details and domain names in a single account.
Can I use my Confirmation of Registration letter to merge my accounts?
Yes. When you are logged into one of your accounts, select the 'Your Domains' tab and then the 'Use your Confirmation of Registration letter' option. This allows you to enter the domain name and security code on your Confirmation of Registration letter to enable you to merge them.
I have lost my password - what can I do?
You can use the reset your password service which is available at
https://secure.nominet.org.uk/auth/login.html. Your password will be reset and an email will be sent to you with a link for setting a new password.
How long will it take to re-establish my identity?
We aim to respond to all re-establish identity requests within one working day of receipt. If you had previously set up security questions on the account, and can answer them correctly, this will speed up your application.
Do I have to pay the administration fee if I have set up security questions?
No. If you answer the security questions correctly, then the administration fee does not apply and you can re-establish your identity free of charge.
My domain name is not hosted by a registrar. Do I still need to re-establish my identity?
Yes. If you do not have a valid log in for your account you will need to follow the re-establish your identity process but we will not charge the administration fees.
My domain name is detagged. Is the process for re-establishing my identity the same as for domains that are hosted by a registrar?
Yes. You will need to submit your request online using the 're-establish identity' service but we will not charge the administration fees.
My registrar has ceased trading and I need to re-establish my identity. Do I follow the normal re-establish identity process?
Yes. If your registrar has ceased trading and they are no longer able to use our domain name management system, you will need to re-establish your identity, using the 're-establish identity' service but we will not charge the administration fee.
I have lost my confirmation of registration letter. How do I access my account?
If you do not have your confirmation of registration letter you can contact us and we will be able to issue a 'welcome' email to you which will include your log in details for the online service.
I am unable to log into my account using the security code in my confirmation of registration letter. What shoud I do?
For security reasons, you can only log into your account once using this letter.
If you have never used the letter to gain access before, your account may already be activated. If there are other contacts set up to manage your account you should either liaise with them or your registrar to get yourself added as a new contact.
If you are not aware that there are any other contacts on your account or you cannot get your registrar to set you up as a contact then you will need to re-establish your identity with us.
