What information do I need to know about the new registrant?

In order to initiate the registrant transfer process, you will need to know the email address of the new registrant.

What if the new registrant does not have an email address?

In order to have an account with us an email address is required. If you are unsure how to obtain an email address, please contact us on 01865 332244 or and we will advise you further.

How long does the new registrant have to accept the registrant transfer?

The new registrant has 5 days to accept the registrant transfer. A further 5 days can pass if the new registrant also requires a registrar change, to a registrar that has set a handshake policy.

I have received a registrant transfer request email, but when I select the link, it says the application has expired?

If you would still like to become the registrant of those domains, you will need to contact the current registrant and ask them to initiate the registrant transfer again.

Why am I unable to select a particular domain name?

There may be circumstances when we restrict the transfer of a domain name. If you have domain names in this situation, please contact us on 01865 332244 or .

There are domain names missing from the transfer?

If the status of a domain name changes during the transfer process that restricts it from being part of the application, we will remove it from the request. If there are other domain names in the request, you can complete the transfer for the remaining domain names. If choose not to continue with the transfer as a result of this, or this was the only domain name in the request, the application will be ended and all monies paid refunded.

Why am I unable to transfer the domain names into my existing account?

In order for this to be done, the new registrant details must match that of the existing account, including your contact details. If the account already has domain names registered on it, the registrar must also match.

What is a registrar handshake?

A registrar can select a 'registrar change' policy, which relates to whether the registrar accepts registrar changes or not. For more information please see the Change registrar section.

I would like to become the registrant of a domain name registered to someone else, what should I do?

You will need to approach the registrant of that domain name to see if they would be interested in transferring the registration to you. We are unable to assist you in making contact, however you can use our WHOIS facility on the home page of our web site to establish whom the registrant is.

I have initiated a registrant transfer, when will I know the process has been completed?

You will receive an email notification when the new registrant has either completed or declined the transfer. If they fail to accept or decline the transfer within 5 days, you will be notified by email that the request has timed out.

How will I know the registrant of a domain name has initiated a registrant transfer to me?

You will receive an email notification to the email address you have supplied the registrant. You then have 5 days to accept or decline the transfer.

Do I get a refund if the new registrant declines the transfer, or the registrant transfer email times out?

Yes, all monies paid will be refunded to card used during this process.

The new registrants registrar has declined the domain names, what happens next?

All monies paid will be refunded back on to the card used for this failed attempt. If the transfer is still to go ahead, the registrant will need to initiate this process again. The new registrant can either choose a new registrar, or contact the previously selected registrar and ask them to accept the domain names this time.
