A registrant transfer is the changing of the legal registrant (owner) of a .uk domain name from one entity to another.
If you no longer require your domain name, you may wish to transfer it to another party.
Transfer a single domain name
If you want to initiate the registrant transfer process, you will need to log in to your
Online Services account and select the 'Registrant Transfer’ service. Please note that this service will cost £10 plus VAT, which can be paid by either the current or new registrant.
Read a step by step
guide to the transfer process here.
Transfer multiple domain names
If all of the domain names you wish to transfer are available when logging into our online service, and they are being transferred to the same new registrant, the cost of a mass registrant transfer is £10 plus VAT.
Chargeable and non-chargeable transfers
More information on
chargeable transfers is available. There are also a variety of changes that can be made to the legal registrant's details that
do not incur a charge.
Registrar change also needed
During the registrant transfer process the new registrant can also choose to move their domain name to another registrar. Please be aware that a registrar can select a
registrar change policy, which relates to whether the registrar accepts registrar changes or not.
Please note that the registrant transfer will not be completed until the registrar accepts this request.
Please note that if you only want to
change your registrar and do not wish to transfer the legal registrant of your domain name there is a different process that you will need to follow.
