If you no longer want your .uk domain name, Online services enables you to cancel it within your account.  Once a .uk domain name is cancelled it will be available to register on a first-registered, first-served basis.

Once scheduled for cancellation the domain name will be removed from the register on the day of cancellation at some point before midnight.
