An initial application (pdf) for the creation of me.uk was received by Nominet UK in May 2001. This proposal was submitted by Alex Bligh.  A final proposal (pdf) was later received.

In accordance with the procedure for the creation of new SLDs, Nominet UK issued a written recommendation in response (pdf) to the application. The application and recommendation of the Nominet executive were considered at the meeting of the Policy Advisory Board on 1 August 2001.
