Note: this discussion list is only open to members

nom-steer is used to debate issues relating to Nominet, the Domain Name System and, in particular, the work of the PAB. Our Board, PAB representatives and our management both read and contribute to nom-steer, although their views should not be construed as official statements.

To subscribe, unsubscribe or set your options on any of these lists, then visit the subscription page.

Subscribing and unsubscribing will generate an automated confirmation message that you must reply to before the change is processed.  Once we have received your confirmed request, we will manually vet it in order to authenticate membership.  This may require you to confirm again with a PGP-signed email.  All subscription and unsubscription requests are normally processed within one working day.

Notes
Although all members are encouraged to take part in nom-steer discussions, subscription to the list is optional and in practice 25 per cent of the total membership subscribes.  As such, the views expressed on nom-steer may not represent the majority of the membership.

Although many of our staff receive nom-steer, they do not usually contribute to the list discussions in a personal capacity.

We may occasionally post to nom-steer in order to clarify facts and correct any inaccuracies in discussions.

Sometimes, the Nominet management team will respond to individual posters "off-list" in order to request further information or clarify the viewpoint that has been expressed.

Some members of the Nominet Board and the Policy Advisory Body receive nom-steer.   Their contributions to the discussions may represent their own personal views on issues and should not be construed as official Nominet statements.

Appointed representatives of the Policy Advisory Body - who are not members of Nominet - are able to subscribe to nom-steer if they wish to.

Candidates who are standing for election to the Nominet Board or the Policy Advisory Body - and who are not members of Nominet - may subscribe to nom-steer in the run-up to the election.
