The domain availability checker is a high volume tool for checking to see if a domain name is registered or not. In its current form the DAC is subject to
usage limits.
Registrars with a large number of customers are finding that the DAC access limit is restricting their ability to query new domain names for registration. To meet this need we will be introducing an
additional DAC service: the time delay DAC.
Whilst this new service is under development, those registrars that require a greater volume of lookups on the existing DAC service can apply for their limit to be increased.
The basic calculation to see if you qualify for increased limits is based on the number of new registrations that you have made in the past 12 months.
20 x number of registration in past 12 months
is greater than
current DAC access limit 432,000
(calculated at an account level across all tags)
This equates to 21,600 registrations in the past 12 months making you eligible for a temporary increase to your DAC access limit.
Once the new DAC services are available all access limits will revert to be in line with the policy for those new services.
