Nominet is seeking views from stakeholders on domain expiry policy.
We have published a consultation document which asks for further feedback on a number of areas such as whether registrars should be permitted, with the consent of the registrant, to take control of a domain name within the 90 day expiry period; if inclusion in the contract at the point of registration is sufficient for obtaining such consent; and whether registrars should be required to issue a renewal reminder to the registrant at least 30 days before expiry.
This follows the work of the issue group formed by Nominet, which has met four times since September 2011. An amended set of draft recommendations incorporating feedback from stakeholders has now been published. These recommendations will be considered with the feedback from the consultation.
Please take a look at the full consultation document and submit your views by email to policy@nominet.org.uk by 3 September 2012.
