Experience
· Victoria is an IP lawyer and advises on all issues relevant to copyright and trade marks under EU and English law. She represented the Claimant in Scandecor Development AB v. Scandecor Marketing AB [1998] FSR 500, [1999] FSR 26 C.A., [2001] 2 C.M.LR 30 (HL). The first case under the 1994 Trade Marks Act to reach the House of Lords.
· Victoria is a specialist in the liability of Internet intermediaries and Audiovisual regulatory issues in English, EU and US law. Recent work included advising Google on liability for third party content and advising ISPs in relation to potential litigation by the British Phonographic Industry over its demands for suspension and termination of users of P2P software. She follows developments at EU and UK level, and related developments.
· Victoria also focuses on all aspects of UK media law, libel and privacy and the self and co-regulatory codes. She has a particular interest in defamation law in the context of publication on the internet. Recent work included Collins Stewart v FT team, the largest libel claim in English history and media management for various corporates and individuals in relation to proposed broadcasts, often BBC Panorama and C4 Dispatches, and proposed publications.
· Victoria is experienced in issues arising in the media and entertainment industries and has advised leading actors, models, directors and producers as well as distributors.
· Victoria has a strong interest in private international law and experience of cross border commercial litigation and arbitration. She has worked with one of the top international arbitration specialists and been involved in ICC, LCIA, LMAA, AAA arbitrations, often involving interim remedies and parallel proceedings in international courts.
Interests
Victoria has a passion for travel and has lived briefly in Japan, Prague and Hong Kong as well as New York and the UK.
