Alex Blowers - Director of Legal and Policy

Alex Blowers

Alex joined Nominet in January 2011 as Director of Legal and Policy. Prior to joining Nominet, Alex was International Director at Ofcom, responsible for Ofcom’s engagement with key international institutions and for negotiations within the European Union. He joined Ofcom in January 2004 and was Project Director for the Strategic Review of Telecommunications completed by Ofcom in 2005.

Alex’s early career was spent in the public sector. In 1991 Alex joined the DTI team implementing the Duopoly Review, and then spent three years at Oftel in the mid-1990s working on strategic market-opening projects. Alex also worked on competition policy issues at the DTI, and on European policy issues at the Cabinet Office. Before joining Ofcom, Alex spent six years with cable company NTL, latterly as Director of Regulatory Affairs.

Eleanor Bradley - Director of Operations

Eleanor Bradley

Eleanor joined Nominet in 1997, and was appointed Director of Operations in November 2002. Through her oversight of the two operational departments, Registrant Services and Member and Registrar Services, she is responsible for ensuring that we deliver an excellent standard of service to domain name registrants and our registrars.




Gill Crowther – Director of HR

Gill Crowther

Gill joined Nominet in June 2007 where she introduced the love coming to work strategy to make Nominet an employer of choice.  The Love coming to work strategy has seen employee engagement increase from 28.5% in 2007 to 34.7% in 2009.  Love coming to work is about helping everyone to be as productive as possible while at work.  This is achieved by ensuring people are doing roles that challenge and fulfil them and allow them to use their strengths.

Prior to joining Nominet Gill worked as a leadership and management development consultant.  Gill has over 10 years HR experience gained in a variety of roles at Microsoft, GlaxoWelcome and Ford Motor Company.

Gill is a chartered member of the CIPD and an Engineering and Business Studies graduate of Warwick University.  Gill is also a school governor.


Glenn Hayward – Director of Finance

Glenn Hayward

Glenn has been Director of Finance since 2008 and also takes responsibility for Nominet's Business Development and Business Analysis functions.

Glenn qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1998 while working for a medium-sized practice in Chester.  Glenn stayed in practice for a further 2 years after qualification, working for Arthur Andersen in their Assurance and Business Advisory division, where he took on responsibility for large company audits and due diligence projects for company acquisitions and disposals.  Since then Glenn has performed senior finance and analysis roles for Psion, Go Fly, easyJet and most recently for Northgate Information Solutions where he was the Finance Director for the SME division focussed on payroll and HR outsourcing. Glenn also has extensive Acquisitions experience, having project managed a number of acquisitions during his time at Northgate.

Phil Kingsland - Director of Marketing and Communications

Phil Kingsland

Phil is Director of Marketing and Communications at Nominet which he joined in March 2006 with 15 years' experience in marketing and sales for high technology companies. He is responsible for developing and implementing our marketing and communications strategy, raising the profile of .uk and defining our position in the global Internet industry.

Prior to joining Nominet, Phil spent 7 years with management and technology consultancy, Axon Group plc, where he was Head of Marketing, working with a range of blue chip clients.  Prior to this role, he spent time leading the sales and marketing of London-based 3D Scanners Ltd and started his career with Renishaw plc.

Phil has a joint Masters in Mechanical Engineering and Management from Birmingham University.


Simon McCalla - Director of IT

Simon McCalla

Simon's remit is to lead the team developing and managing the technology behind one of the world's largest Internet registries, .uk. He is also responsible for ensuring Nominet's technical leadership within the UK and international Internet communities. 

Simon has over 18 years' experience in information technology within global enterprises including The White Company, Warner Bros Studio Entertainment Group and Cap Gemini. In 2006, Simon was appointed as director of application services at Warner Bros, where he was responsible for the development and management of their global Category Management and Vendor Managed Inventory systems.
