We have a working relationship with a number of other organisations:
Nominet is a member of the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) the only UK Internet 'Hotline' for the public to report their exposure to online child sexual abuse content hosted anywhere in the world and criminally obscene and incitement to racial hatred content hosted in the UK.
The IWF works in partnership with the online industry, Government, police and the public. As a result of this self-regulatory approach, less than 1% of online child sexual abuse content has apparently been hosted in the UK since 2003, down from 18% in 1997.
For more information or to report a web site visit www.iwf.org.uk.
The Council for European National Top Level Domain Registries (CENTR) is an association of Internet Country Code Top Level Domain Registries such as .uk in the United Kingdom and .es in Spain.
CENTR provides a forum to discuss matters of policy affecting ccTLD registries and acts as a channel of communication to Internet governing bodies and other organisations involved with the Internet. It promotes the interests of not-for-profit ccTLDs and lobbies on their behalf.
As the ccTLD for .uk we have been a full member of CENTR for the past ten years and actively contribute to their meetings. We hosted the CENTR General Assembly meeting in February 2006 and Emily Taylor, our Director of Legal and Policy has served as a director on the Board of CENTR in the past.
Oxford Brookes University is a premier learning and teaching institution with an outstanding research record.
We have a partnership with Oxford Brookes University to develop anti-abuse technology that will help protect the domain names in our register, registrant data and the UK Internet as a whole. The partnership is being supported by the Department of Trade and Industry through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership award and will see the creation of two new anti-abuse posts.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is an international non-profit organisation responsible for the management and oversight of the Internet's domain name system.
We have a good working relationship with them. We regularly attend and present at ICANN multi-stakeholder meetings and we are a member of the Country Code Names Supporting Organisation, of which our Chief Executive, Lesley Cowley, is a council member.
The United Nations' Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is a multi-stakeholder forum that debates a range of issues relating to Internet Governance. The IGF works with all stakeholders to create a safe, fair and inclusive Internet experience.
We play a key role in international Internet governance and policy development, and Emily Taylor, our Director of Legal and Policy, was last year invited by the UN to become the UK representative on the Advisory Group to the Internet Governance Forum.

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) (formerly the Department for Trade and Industry), is the Government department responsible for trade, business, employees, consumers, science and energy.
We work closely with the BERR ensuring that the Government has a clear and thorough understanding of what we do and how we work with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure the safe and secure delivery of the .uk domain name space. The BERR is an appointed member of our Policy Advisory Body.
The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) is the premier lobbying organisation for UK business on national and international issues. It works with the UK government, international legislators and policy-makers to help UK businesses compete effectively.
We work with the CBI to ensure that UK business knows who Nominet is and our role in the safe and secure provision of the .uk domain name space. The CBI is an appointed member of our Policy Advisory Body.
The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is an independent government authority and reports directly to Parliament. The Commissioner's role is to be the independent champion of public openness and personal privacy, particularly with regard to elements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
We have consulted with the ICO on a number of projects, such as our WHOIS policy, and the ICO is an appointed member of our Policy Advisory Body.
